Most people come in with thirty minutes budgeted. They leave an hour and a half later, still finding corners they hadn't noticed. The ground floor of Casa de Pilatos is bigger than it looks from the street — and the audio guide tells you what you're actually looking at, which makes the difference between a pleasant wander and a visit that stays with you.

The ticket covers the main courtyard (Patio Principal), the six ground-floor state rooms, all of the Roman marble sculpture collection, the azulejo tile galleries, and both gardens including the Jardín Grande where Game of Thrones filmed the Water Gardens of Dorne. You set the pace — stay thirty minutes or three hours.

The audio guide is loaded onto your phone via a QR code at the ticket desk. It covers 7 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian. Bring headphones — the ticket desk doesn't supply them.

Room by Room: Ground Floor Route

Apeadero — the carriage hallThe entrance chamber, built for the household's horses and carriages. The 16th-century wooden ceiling is intact. Scale of the space is the first surprise for most visitors.
Patio Principal — the main courtyardThe centre of the palace. Three levels of arcade, a marble fountain, and 24 Roman busts in the lower gallery. The azulejo tiles reach 3 metres high on every wall face. Most visitors spend 20–40 minutes here alone. The audio guide covers each sculpture in detail.
Ground-floor state rooms (six rooms)The Hall of Flags, Praetor's Hall, Bedroom of Don Fadrique, and three adjoining rooms. Each has full-height tile panels and original 16th-century ceilings. The audio guide explains the heraldic programmes in the tilework.
Jardín Grande — the large gardenThis is where Game of Thrones filmed Season 5. The central fountain and surrounding beds are largely unchanged from the filming in 2014. The garden is the quietest part of the visit — most people spend time in the courtyard and move quickly through here.
Jardín Chico — the small gardenA smaller formal garden adjoining the main one. Worth a loop if the main garden is crowded.
